Prominent Buse Farmer Dies At 85 Years
Andrew Anderson Came To Otter Tail County 53 Years Ago

Andrew Anderson, for many years a prominent farmer in Buse township, died at 6:45 p. m. yesterday at Lake Region hospital. His death at 85 was due to a heart condition. He had been in the hospital two weeks.

He was born at Malmo, Sweden, June 11, 1871, and came to the United States at the age of 17. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith before coming to the United States.

He was married to Cecilia Johnson Nov. 3, 1900, in Martin county and they came to this community 53 years ago, locating first in Western township.

Mr. Anderson served his community in a number of ways. He was a member of the school board in District 46, Chairman of the Buse town board, served as director of the Fergus Creamery and Fergus Dairy, a member of the board of the Farmers Cooperative elevator and president of Ottertail Co-op. Oils. He was a member of the First English Lutheran church.

For a number of years he made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Hilda Carroll, in this city. Three sons also survive. They are Oscar of Fergus Falls, Arthur M. and Albert H. of Buse township. He leaves 16 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 2 sisters and 2 brothers, Mrs. Karl Hanson of Orwell township, Mrs. Hannah Olson of Wahkon, Minn., August Anderson of Buse and Johnson Anderson of Canada.

Funeral services will be held at the First English Lutheran church, Saturday, at 3 p. m., with the Rev. C. K. Preus in charge. Burial will be in Oak Grove cemetery. Friends may call at the Giende-Johnson Funeral home.
