He was hospitalized at St. Joseph's Hospital in Alton for the final 4 weeks of his life. Raymond died there on New Year's Day 1960. At the time of his death, he was 65 years, 5 months and 24 days old.
He was survived by his wife, Nora; 4 daughters, Lorraine Droege of Alton, Mildred Robinson of Lemay, Missouri, Cecilia McBride of Elkton, Michigan, and Vera Tepen of Hardin, Illinois; 2 sons, Paul Funk of Fieldon, Illinois, and Ralph Funk of Batchtown; 23 grandchildren; 1 brother, Ed Funk of Batchtown; and 1 sister, Ida Zigrang of Batchtown.
Visitation was held at Hanks Funeral Home in Hardin, Illinois on 02 Jan 1960. A Requiem Mass was conducted at 9:30 a.m. on the morning of 04 Jan 1960 at St. Barbara's Catholic Church in Batchtown.
Raymond's wife, Nora, passed away in 1983 and was buried next to him.
