She was born April 24, 1925, to Neal and Bertrice Bench in Amherst, Texas. Jerry graduated in Amherst, as valedictorian of her class. She then attended Draughon's Business College in Lubbock, Texas. Soon after she moved to Ft. Worth, Texas where she met and married Bill Stiver Sr. on April 3, 1943, while he was in the Army Air Force. He died in 1986. Jerry was a homemaker and amember of the Northeast Baptist Church in Seymour. She was an avid reader of mystery novels, loved working crossword puzzles, and always had a jig-saw puzzle going. She enjoyed cooking, and e-mailing family and friends.
She was preceeded in death by her son Stephen in September of 2000, and her brother J.T. Bench in December 1999.
Survivors include her two sons, Thomas Stiver of Dayton, Ohio and Bill Stiver and wife Julie of Wichita Falls, Texas (formerly of Junction, Texas); five granddaughters: Amy, Wendy, Jennifer, Krissy, and Heather; two grandsons: Tommy and Jamie; and three great-granddaughters: Alison, Madelyn, and Camryn.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 19, at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of the Seymour Memorial Funeral Home, with Bro. Johnny Bullard, officiating.
In lieu of flowers and for those desiring, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Northeast Baptist Church or charity of choice.
