Richard E. Ahlersmeyer, 76, of Fort Wayne, a World War II Coast Guard veteran, died Saturday, May 5, 2001, at home.

The Fort Wayne native was an accountant for GE for 36 years before retiring in 1988. He was a member of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his wife, Beverly; sons Richard L. of Tucson, Ariz., and Rodney D. and Michael A., both of Fort Wayne; a daughter, Diane Melton of Tucson, Ariz.; stepsons Kenneth E. Baker of Wolcottville and Richard A. Baker of Houston; a stepdaughter, Bonnie Higgins of Lakin, Kan.; brothers Carl of Fort Wayne and Donald of Muncie; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., with calling from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be at Concordia Gardens.
