Sarah Jane Winters was born 10 Oct 1852 in Cumberland Co., IL to parents, Andrew Jackson Winters (25 Jan 1825-22 Sep 1900) and Lorinda "Bertha" Lee (1828-abt 1879).
Sarah first married James H. Fowler (1843-abt 1881) 28 July 1870 in KS. The children of James H. Fowler and Sarah were:
Maud Lorinda "Anna" Fowler (27 Apr 1871-31 Oct 1957)
Stephen Larkin Fowler (15 May 1873-26 Aug 1952)
Adam Oscar Fowler (1874-1879)
William Harvey Fowler (07 Jul 1877-15 Apr 1959
Bertha Verda Fowler (12 Sep 1879-29 Nov 1947)
After her husband's death in 1881, Sarah next married Clinton Delmar Mendenhall (1849-21 Sep 1890) on 14 Nov 1885 in Baker, OR.
They had one son - Ira Delmar "Watler" Mendenhall (17 Jan 1887-17 Apr 1944)
Sarah later married John J. Roth (15 Aug 1851-13 Dec 1924) in Baker, OR and helped raise his four daughters after the early loss of their mother. Sarah is remembered as being very kind to these daughters and they truly felt she was a great mother to them.
