Caroline R. Harnish, 94, formerly of Willow Street and Pequea Township, died at the Mennonite Home on Monday, June 7, 2010. She was the wife of the late H. Preston Harnish for 54 years until his death in 2003.

Caroline was graduated from the former Millersville State Teacher's College and taught for 35 years in the Lampeter-Strasburg School District. Also a farmer's wife, she stood on Central Market at the former Harnish Poultry for many years. She was a life member of Willow Street United Church of Christ. A very creative person, Caroline enjoyed art, gardening, traveling and collecting antiques. She loved playing cards.

Born in Strasburg Township, she was the daughter of the late Wenger and Maud (Harnish) Ranck. Caroline is survived by a daughter, Rebecca H. married to Vincent J. Lattanzio of Willow Street, a son, Samuel J. Harnish of Lancaster, four grandchildren, Annie Lattanzio Hale, Kate Lattanzio, Charles Lattanzio and Joe Lattanzio, and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Anna H. Ranck, and brothers, J. Harold Ranck, A. Milton Ranck and Samuel H. Ranck.

VIEWING: Friday, June 11, 2010 from 9 AM until 10 AM in the Willow Street United Church of Christ, 2723 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA 17584. FUNERAL: Friday, June 11, at 10 AM from the church with Pastor Liza Garcia officiating. Interment in New Danville Mennonite Cemetery.
