Margaret Baker Dies Suddenly; Funeral Monday
New Philadelphia Woman Found Dead at Home Sunday Morning
Mrs. Margaret Mounts Baker, a resident of New Philadelphia, died suddenly last week at her home. Death was a result of a cerebral hemorrhage, probably brought on by the intense heat. She was 77 years old.
Her death was discovered at 9:35 o'clock Sunday morning by Mrs. Margaret DeJean. The body was lying on the floor in the bedroom of her home.
Funeral services were held Monday morning at 10 o'clock at the New Philadelphia Methodist church, in charge of the service Rev. W.W. Logan, a Presbyterian minister of Louisville, Ky. Interment was in the New Philadelphia cemetery.
Mrs. Baker was the ninth child in a family of 12, born December 16, 1858, near Washington, Pennsylvania, to James and Elizabeth Mounts. She came to Washington County, Indiana, with her parents in 1865 and settled near New Philadelphia.
She was married in April 1904, to F.M. Baker, who died many years ago. She was a member of the Presbyterian church.
One sister, Mrs. Nancy Ballard of Salem, Ore., survives, together with three brothers, Richard, Thomas and Archibald Mounts of this county. Four brothers and three sisters are deceased.
