Mrs. Claude E. (LaVata Terry) Williams, Sr. 91 of 712 Muse St. died September 17, 2007 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.A native of Albany, Mrs. Williams lived here all of her life. She was a charter member of Central Baptist Church, retired from the Social Security Administration with 40 years of government service retiring in 1981, a 1931 graduate of Albany High School where she was a star basketball player and was a graduate of Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, GA. Mrs. Williams was a huge UGA football fan, true animal lover especially cats and she always had an innate ability to care for others. Survivors include her son, Claud E. Williams, Jr. and his wife Jane.

Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob Cameron and Carolyn Camille Cleland Terry, husband, Claud E. Williams, Sr., brother, Guyton Otis Terry, Sr., sisters, Lelia Eaves Terry and Jacqueline B.
