Claude J. "Pops" Addison, 74, of Christiansburg, Va., passed away on Saturday, April 17, 2010. He was born on December 23, 1935 in Norton, Va. to the late Ernest "Doc" and Lottie V. Hamilton Addison. He was also preceded in death by a son, Scott Dowdy, a granddaughter, Patricia Dowdy, four brothers and one sister. He worked for Celanese as a textile worker and was a union representative for Union # 2024. He also served in the United States Air Force as an M.P. while stationed in England. He was a huge hunter and a baseball fan, especially the Dodgers. He is survived by his wife, Dianne Simmons Addison; his children, Robbie Addison and wife, Vicki, Steve Addison, Jeff Addison and fiancée, Nina, Doris Ann King, Robbie Dowdy, Michael Dowdy, and Tony Reed; 22 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous other family and friends. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 21, 2010, from 12 noon until 2 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Don Peters officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
