Nancy "Joy" Boettcher, age 91, of Moulton, Iowa, passed away at the Golden Age Center in Centerville, Iowa on Monday, March 1, 2010. She was born October 27, 1918 to Elvin O. and Edith(Withem)Worth in Mondamia, Iowa. Joy was raised in the Loess Hills in Western Iowa on an apple farm. She and her brother and sisters spent their Childhood helping raise and harvest all of the various produce. After graduating from a rural country school she and a friend ran a country store in Orson, Iowa for a time.

Joy met her husband, Edwin E. Boettcher when he and his father were building a road in Magnolia, Iowa. When Edwin's work took him to constructing the Denison Dam in Denison, Texas, Joy took a train to Texas where they were married on November 25, 1941 in Denison. Their first child Linda died of meningitis at age 2 1/2 when Edwin was home for a weekend furlough during World War ll. After they returned to Harrison County in Iowa, where they purchased a farm in the Hills. Later in 1955, they bought their farm on the Dean Bottoms near Moulton, Iowa where they raised their 2 children Alan and Nancy. Joy was always smiling and singing and was a great mother and wife. In 1969, Joy suddenly was faced with dealing with severe bipolarism, so most of her grandchildren never knew the beautiful happy person she had been.

She is preceded in death by; her parents; husband, Edwin Boettcher on February 6, 1996; daughter, Linda Boettcher; brother, Vance Worth; sister, Bonnie Spencer.

Joy is survived by: son, Alan and his wife, Sharon Boettcher of Moulton, Iowa; daughter, Nancy and her husband, Robert Klum of Moulton, Iowa; sister, Virgene Pearson of Council Bluffs, Iowa; sister-in-law, Evelyn Benn of Eldora, Iowa; brother-in-law, Wilfred and his wife, Sherri Boettcher of Ottumwa, Iowa; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and eleven step-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 10:00 am at Orlean's Church of Christ in Moulton, Iowa with Rev. Jerry Weller officiating. Burial will follow in the Hilltown Cemetery near Moulton. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Moulton, Iowa, from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm with the family present from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
