Mrs. Hattie E. Bockover, 71, of 704 North Main street, died at 7:50 a.m. today
in Tipton county hospital. The lifelong resident of Tipton and Atlanta had been
ill for 10 days. Rev. Warre Dafoe will conduct services at 10 a.m. Saturday in
Leatherman-Morris Funeral home, and burial will be in Fairview cemetery. Friends
are invited to call at the funeral home at any time after 10 a.m. Thursday.
The deceased woman was born in Atlanta May 13, 1885, to William Henry and
VanNora (Ashelman) Long. She was first married to William Bachman, of Atlanta,
who
died in 1913.
On February 4, 1929, the former Miss Hattie E. Long was married to W. L.
Bockover, who died Feb. 10, 1942. A former employee of the Oakes- Manufacturing
company of Tipton, she belonged to the First Baptist church here.
Survivors of Mrs. Bockover, who had lived in Tipton since 1929, include three
sons, William Bachman,
of Springfield, Ohio; Wayne Bachman, of Huntsville, Ohio; and
Walter Bockover, of Anderson; and two daughters, Mrs. Kyle Smith, of Clearwater,
Fla., and Mrs. Ivan Falconberry, Akron, Ohio. Surviving brothers are Floyd Long,
of West Lafayette, Roy Long, of Elwood, Claude Long, of Atlanta, Ray Long, of
Sheridan, and Harry Long, of Lapel. Surviving sisters
are Mrs. Carl Lane, of Anderson, and Mrs. Sherril Sherman, Mancelona, Mich., as
well as 11 grand children and 8 great-grand children.
