Funeral services were held today in First Baptist Church for James Ray Hamby, a 29-year-old construction worker who died Monday in a traffic accident. Burial was in the Hamby Cemetery at Jay with Kennard Funeral Service of Catoosa in charge. Hamby was the son of J.B. Hamby, a Catoosa police chief who was killed Sept. 1, 1978, in a shootout during a robbery. James Ray Hamby was born in Tulsa and lived in Catoosa all his life. He graduated from Catoosa High School where he played football and basketball. He was a heavy-equipment operator for Weaver Construction Co. and a member of Catoosa's First Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Sheila Fay; a son, John Michael of Catoosa; two daughters, Charity Michelle and Morgan Elizabeth of Catoosa; his mother and stepfather, Billie Jean and Ron Kincade of Catoosa; a brother, Mark Wayne Hamby of Catoosa; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. O.D. Bell and Elizabeth Hamby, all of Tulsa.
