Matilda was the daughter of Alexander & Roxelena "Roxie" (Baker) Smith.

She married William Joel Kellar in Scotland Co, MO, on January 11, 1891. Their children, all born in Gorin, were:
1. William Jean - b: Oct. 6, 1891
2. Forrest Glenn - b: June 8, 1894
3. Price Clarence - July 3, 1896
4. Fay Lillian - Mar. 28, 1899
5. Fern Lillian - Mar. 28, 1899
6. Minnie Laura - Dec. 6, 1901

Matilda and her husband lived at 4400 Wabash Ave. in St. Louis, when he was killed after being hit by a car in the summer of 1937. She remained here the rest of her life.

In 1941 she was diagnosed with breast cancer. During the next five years it had spread to the rest of her body, & she died at 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 27, 1946. She had lived 78 years, 11 months, & 19 days.

Her daughter, Fay Gaddy, was the informant on her death certificate. She was buried Aug. 29.
