Josephine "Jo" Wade, 98, of 1300 Spring died at 11:20 a.m. Thursday (December 10, 2009) in the home of her daughter.

Born November 23, 1911 near St. Patrick, MO, Josephine was the daughter of Franklin Brislin and Lillie Edith Bick Riney. She married John R. Tate in St. Patrick, MO on December 2, 1933. He preceded her in death on May 3, 1955. She then married Charles G. Wade in Palmyra, MO on November 27, 1958. He preceded her in death on January 5, 1967.

Jo had been an active member at St. Dominic's Parish and the Ladies Society. In her later years she attended St. Boniface Church and St. Francis Church. She enjoyed quilting, playing cards and dancing.

Mrs. Wade had worked at Crown Shoe Company in Palmyra, MO, S.S. Kresge Company in Quincy and Motorola for several years until it's closing. She then worked at Merkels part time for 6 and a half years. After that she worked as a baby sitter and care giver until her retirement.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Jo (Tate) Fischer and her husband Michael of Vienna, GA, and Mrs. Patricia (Tate) Qualls of Quincy; one stepson Jerry Wade and his wife Jackies of New Athens, IL; six grandchildren Cynthia Gilbert and her husband Geoffrey of Quincy, James (Jimmy) Qualls of Alton, IL, Brian K. Goodwin of Normal, IL, Scott E. Fischer and his wife Mary of Warner Robins, GA, Michole Gaines of Cordele, GA, Brynda Hancock and her husband Scott of Arabi, GA, fifteen great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Wade was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, an infant son John J. Tate, a grandson Todd Fischer, one sister, Margaret Stewart, two brothers Louis and Walter Riney and two step sons, Patrick and Terrence Wade.

A Memorial Mass will be held Monday morning 9:30 in St. Francis Church with Rev. James Wheeler officiating. Private inurnment will take place at a later date at St. Joseph Cemetery in Palmyra, MO.

Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to St. Francis Church or to the Quincy Senior and Family Resource Center.
