Services for Joseph Vanard Alderson, 63, of 2316 Shawnee Lane, will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Roth Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Willis Henson and the Rev. David Gray officiating.
Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Alderson, a native of Murray, died Saturday at 7 a.m. at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, Tenn. He was a retired engineer for the Illinois Central–Gulf Railroad and was the son of the late O. J. and Minnie M. Lamb Alderson.
Mr. Alderson was president of the ICGRR Credit Union and secretary of the railroad Hunting and Fishing Club. He was past local chairman of the United Trainmen's Union and a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 127 and Lone Oak Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Agnes Self Alderson; four daughters, Mrs. Donald fix, Metropolis, Ill., Mrs. Harold Sturm, Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Cletus Felts, Paducah, and Miss Judy Alderson, St. Louis, Mo., a brother, Hugh Alderson, Paducah; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Meadows, Frankfort, and eight–grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Gene Adams, James Roper, Jimmy Dennis, Don Henderson, J. G. Binson, and Jimmy Stroud.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Galloway, Elmer Gregory, Rodney Simmons, Mickey Land, Floyd Sills, Bailey Hayes, Alan Butler and Rita Clark.
Friends may call at the funeral home after noon today.
