Mary died at her home 409 N Prairie St, Bloomington. She was the wife of Dr. William J. Nicolay, married May 18, 1864. Daughter of Capt. Samuel P. and Julia Ritchie Shannon.
The married couple came to Illinois and located at Miner, during the year 1869. Dr. Nicolay practiced medicine there until 1887, when the family moved to Bloomington.
Mary was survived by son Dr. John Nicolay, of Springfield, Missouri; daughters Mrs. Cora Henderson, of Saybrook; Mrs. Eugene Packard and Mrs Florence Fleming of Bloomington.
