I "met" this man, from the 1912 US Naval academy yearbook "Lucky Bag". He was a three-striper at the academy, which I have found usually means a young man who has quite a career ahead of him. That is, if he lives long enough. So, I was very surprised to read that he traded his commission in the regular Navy, only three years later, for one in the reserves. That must have been a big sacrifice for him to make, to run the family business. I'm glad that he got to live to his son graduate from his Alama Mater and become an admiral. It's a wonderful story.
