He was born to the late Amueil and Hazel B. Balser Wilson in Tippecanoe County on January 17, 1932. He married Osie L. Bradford on January 22, 1951 in Claiborne County, Tennesee. He is survived by his wife, Osie Wilson of Delphi, his 4 daughters, Mary K. (Kathy) Mitchell (husb: Ed) of Delphi, L. Sue Dexter (husb: Steve) of Brookston, Anna B. Weaver of Rossville, Norma E. Pearson of Rossville, and his son, Ray Gene Wilson (wife: Beth) of Santa Barbara, CA, 5 grandchildren, Stephen Michael Hathaway II, Abigail Lue Renda Pearson, Nadine Nicole Reece, Lindsay Deen Ragan, and Sophia Grace Wilson; 8 great grandchildren and 3 sisters, Lillie Mae Bell (husb: Rev Art Bell) of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Ellen Rosalie Bradford (husb: Nathan) of Monticello, Ester Wanita Lawler (husb: Robert) of Town Creek, Alabama.

He served in the National Guard from 1950-1953.
