He was born July 16, 1933 in Owensville, Arkansas.
He devoted his life to serving God and providing for his family. He was retired from Alcoa and a charter member of Highland Heights Baptist Church in Benton.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran and he loved to hunt and fish. The crappie on Lake DeGray feared him. He never met a stranger and inspired his many friends. His fried chicken and cornmeal dumplings were a family legend.
He was preceded in death by his father Jim Lewis Lovel, his mother, Ethel Lovel Shell, and his stepfather, Clarence Shell, Sr.
He is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-six years, Janie Rowland Lovel; his daughter, Vicki Whitley and husband Randy of Benton; his son, Jim Lovel of Conway; his grandson, Clint Whitley of Fayetteville; his grand-daughters, Lindsey Lovel of New York City and Jolie Whitley and fiancé, Brett Hobbs of Van Buren; his sister Faye Braughton and husband Bill of Richmond, VA, and his step-brother, Clarence Shell, Jr. of Benton. His dog, Ginger, already misses him.
Interment was at New Rosemont Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be Clark Dodd, Gene Hewitt, Joel Clark, Wayne Pelton, Kenny Coleman, and Noland James.
Honorary pallbearers are Gary Tedford, Ray Tedford, Nubbin Wray, Tommie White, Lindoff Zeigler, and John Lovell.
