Annamae Wilson Abernathy, 84, of Shelbyville died Monday at her home.

She lived most of her life in the Mays area and was a seamstress and artist. The past two years, she resided at McKay Manor in Shelbyville. She was a lifelong member of Raleigh Christian Church where she had been a Sunday school teacher and active in the Ladies Aid Society. She graduated from Warren Central High School in 1934. She was a member of the Rushville Tri Kappa. She was born June 12, 1917, in Greenfield, a daughter of Freeman Kennedy and Cora Walker.

She is survived by a son, William J. Wilson of Shelby County; three daughters, Diane (husband: Tichaendepi) Masaya of Zimbabwe, Jennifer (husband: Marty) Capestany-Cline of Carnation, Wash., and Kathy (husband; Robert L.) Bayt of Punta Gorda, Fla.; a stepson, the Rev. Stephen G. Abernathy of Rush County; a stepdaughter, Susan J. Kirkpatrick of Rush County; a brother, Eugene F. Kennedy of Indianapolis; 10 grandchildren; a great-grandson; five step-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, James William Wilson, in 1980; her second husband, Gail Abernathy, in 1998; a brother, Lowell Kennedy; a sister, Ruth Jackson; and two grandchildren.

Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Moster & Cox Mortuary with the Rev. Tony Augsburger officiating. Burial will follow in East Hill Cemetery in Rushville. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Raleigh Christian Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
