My uncle, the infant son of my grandfather and his second wife. My mother's half-brother. He died just before his first birthday.

My mother told me she remembered coming home from school, and he would be crawling around on the floor, like babies do. Mom said she thought he had died from pneumonia. His baby shoes were bronzed, and sat on a table in the living room of my grandparents' home for as long as I can remember.

He was gone before he even got to live......

Rest peacefully, my little uncle.
