Peter Doody Jr., 57

died peacefully at home with his loving wife, Debbie, by his side.
Peter was born in Troy, NY where he enjoyed playing softball and was a local musician for many years and where he donated his time as a musician in support of the Troy Vietnam War Memorial. He was employed at Troy Boiler Works until 1993. His father, Peter Doody and brother, Robert Doody precedes him in death. Other than his wife, Peter is survived by his two daughters, Teagen McClain of San Diego, CA and Rebecca Flick and her husband, Michael of Cape Carteret; three grandchildren, Katelynn Flick, Peter Flick and Ruth Ann Flick; mother, Mary Doody of Troy, NY; three sisters, Rita Wood of Stillwater, NY, Ruth Mahoney and Regina Howe both of Troy, NY.
Peter and Debbie moved to Emerald Isle, NC, where they shared five beautiful years together volunteering for the North Carolina Aquarium, The Emerald Isle Sea Turtle Protection Program, the Emerald Isle Parrot Head Club and he served on the board for the Emerald Isle Plantation Community, where he lived.
Peter will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. He leaves us with memories of his passion for life, love of family and friends and how he found beauty in the music, in every sunrise and sunset, in every starry night and thunderstorm.
Perhaps you didn't know his name but he was the man who would always take the time to smile and say hello to all. A very special thank you to all that supported and prayed for us during Peter's courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, 11:00am at St. Mildred Catholic Church in Swansboro with the Rev. Donald Baribeau officiating. Burial will follow at Seaside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the St. Mildred Catholic Church Building Fund, 616 Sabiston Drive, Swansboro, NC 2858

I went to Woodstock with Peter in Aug 1969. He was kind, caring, and a gentleman. Yes, he was a gentle man.
