Logan- Wellsville - Elaine Smith Bassett, 77, passed from this life into the next on November 24,2004 at the Logan Regional Hospital.

Elaine was born on January 20, 1927 in Logan, UT to Fred K. Smith and Bertha Gilgen Smith. Elaine graduated from Logan High School. She married Charles John (Jack) Bassett on September 12, 1945 in the Salt Lake City Temple. Elaine and Jack enjoyed 59 years of life together.

Elaine enjoyed many years of fishing and camping with Jack and her sons. She cherished the time spent with her family at their campground in Blacksmith Fork Canyon. Elaine took great pride in making Afghans for the grand kids, many received awards at the County Fair. She retired after many years of working at the Day Night Laundry in Logan, Utah.

Elaine was a member of the Logan 7th ward for almost 50 years before her and Jack moved to the Wellsville 7th ward to be closer to her family.

She is survived by her husband, Jack Bassett, and three sons, Brent (Joy) of Wellsville, Burt of Hyrum, and Douglas (Becky) of Huntsville. Elaine was also blessed with 14 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Loren Smith of Ogden.

Proceeded in death by her Father, Fred K. Smith, Mother, Bertha G. Smith, two sisters and two brothers. A Great Grandson, Andrew Bassett, also precedes Elaine in death.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 12:00 pm in the Allen-Hall Mortuary. A viewing will be held Sunday evening from 6-8 pm and on Monday from 10:30 - 11:45 am. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
