Private, 125th Pennsylvania (Volunteer) Infantry Regiment, during the U.S. Civil War. Mustered August 10, 1862, into Company 'A.' Most of Company A came from the Tyrone area of Blair County. One month after enlistment, Private Bressler saw combat at 'the hottest part of the battlefield on the hottest day of the war,' the area surrounding the Dunker Church at the Battle of Antietam, widely accepted as the 'Bloodiest Day in American History.'
