This memorial is for our dog, Benji. He was named after the movie dog, "Benji", who was actually the dog "Higgins" that was in the television series, "Petticoat Junction". It had been several years since our last dog, Bugsy had passed on. Seeing that my Mom needed a new pet, one of her co-workers found one and brought it over for her. He was a puppy that got into everything, and chewed on whatever was within sight. Eventually he grew out of that and became an excellent friend and companion. He really enjoyed going for a ride in a car. As he grew older, his health remained really good and he was fairly active.

During a hotter than normal July - with temperatures on some days over 100 - our air conditioner was having problems - a person who was to repair it had not shown up on Thursday.

Friday afternoon after coming home from work and going out for the evening with friends, I came home and found him lying on the floor in front of the big fan unconscious.
I was unsuccessful at trying to revive him. He was gone forever. It was a very sad time after he left us and it took a long time to get over the loss of his companionship. He is still missed to this day.
