Settling in Rowan County NC, he explored and then moved his family to what became Russell County, Va. He helped design and build Ft. Moore during Indian wars and fought in the Revolutionary War. They had seventeen identified children: James , Martin, Chloe, Caleb, William, Catrin, Nancy, Sarah, Jesse, Isaac, Frederick Jr., Thomas, Henry, Benjamin, Daniel, Charles and Reuben Fraley.
