Son of Anderson, Sr., and Hester (McMillen) SINCLAIR. He married Rebecca Ann TATUM on 20 Dec. 1849, in Lafayette Co. Mississippi. Anderson Jr., was a farmer in Mississippi. They moved to Hempstead County, AR after their marriage, and were in the 1860 Hempstead Co's census, and in their HH, was A.'s widowed sister, Sarah A. (Sinclair) McGill, and her 5 yr-old dau. Eliz. A. McGill. Also, in HH was J.W. Tatum, age 36, who I suspect was Rebecca's brother, bn. AL.
Sometime after the 1860 census, they returned to Mississippi,where Anderson Jr. enlisted 1861, in the MS 22nd Reg, Co. K, Lafayette Co., along with his bro., Jeff Sinclair, and his bro-in-law, A.C. Vance, in the Civil War. Anderson was wounded in the head in 1862,in Battle of Shiloh, was discharged Apr. 12th, then re-enlisted 1863, (in the 8th MS Cavalry, Co. A, and in early 1865, was transferred to 28th Cav. Co. H, when the Regiment was captured, and then as a POW was released, May 1865, in Alabama.
After the conflict, Rebecca and Anderson Sinclair, his sister, Minerva (Sinclair) Vance family, incl. her dau. Laura Sullivan, and sons, A. Houston, John F. and Jas.Jeff. McNutt families, came into SW AR. His bro, Jeff Sinclair's family migrated for Jeff's widow, was living with her son, Wm. A. Sinclair, in Yell. Also, Anderson's sister Millie Jane (Sinclair) VANCE & husband, Green Pryor VANCE family, migrated to AR but they stayed in Grant Co., AR. The others moved on west to Yell Co. before 1880, along with Elbert Sinclair (Anderson's half-bro) family. Rebecca died in Yell in Mar. 1884, where her tombstone (to the left of his in photo) he erected stands. As far as is known, Rebecca and Anderson, had no children. In 1880 Census, they were in Upper LaFave, Yell, with his sister, Sarah Vickers (who had remarried and subsequently widowed) and her son, Osco(r), age 8.in the HH.
After Rebecca's death, Anderson married a widow, Sarah J.(Hawkins) Bogle-Hinton, in 1885. They continued to live in the Briggsville area until his death. Sarah J. filed a widow's pension in 1903, which was granted on A.'s CSA military service. After this, she moved into Indian Terr. (OK) where she d. in 1910, and is bur. in Red Oak Cem, Bache, OK in Pittsburg Co. OK (she is on Findagrave there as is Elbert Sinclair).
Anderson, Jr. was known by his friends/family as Uncle "Bud."
After obtaining his widow's pension papers, giving his date of death, at Briggsville, and since
he had no stone, we obtained a military stone, had a dedication of it in Nov. 2009, at the cemetery, with SCV and UDC, doing honors. The community (abt 45-50) attended including several descendants from out of state and other places in AR, to at last mark this soldier's grave. wvy
