NETTIE ANN ASTON

Nettie Ann Aston, daughter of Matthew and Sarah L. Mackey, was born near Confidence Dec. 20, 1872 and departed this life at the home of her son Everett and wife, in Russell, Wednesday morning, January 30, 1946.

She spent her entire life in Wayne and Lucas Counties, except a few years in Oklahoma, where she was united in marriage to Charles Aston, May 24, 1905.

To this union two sons were born, Vernon of Pelican, Texas and Everett of Russell.

She accepted Christ as her Savior and united with the Baptist Church of Bethlehem in early womanhood. Her life throughout the years has been a testimony of her faith.

She was ever thinking of, and doing for others and her cheerful disposition and friendliness won her many friends.

She had been in failing health for some time and realizing that death was near expressed her desire to go.

She spent the greater part of her married life near Chariton, moving to Russell several years ago where she has since resided.

She was a faithful wife and loving mother, a devoted daughter and sister, and will be greatly missed by her relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father and eldest brother, John W. Mackey.

Besides her husband and two sons, she leaves to mourn her departure two daughters-in-law, one grandchild Beverly Jo Aston, her aged mother, three brothers; Robert T. Mackey of Jones, Oklahoma, James E. Mackey of Corydon and Edgar Mackey of Glendale, California. Five sisters; Mrs. Daisy Gookin of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Goldie Spencer of Knoxville, Mrs. Sadie Stafford of Waterloo, Mrs. Winona Teater and Mrs. Pearl Latham of Russell and a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives.
