Mrs. E. I. (Deak) Carr, 366 1/2 West Grand avenue, who lived in this city all her life, was stricken when downtown Thursday afternoon and was pronounced dead at Beloit hospital.
Ruth Lufkin was born December 28, 1897 in Beloit, the daughter of Edward and Carrie Ramsey Lufkin. She was married to Mr. Carr on September 23, 1920, at Rockford.
She was a member of Phoenix Chapter 215, Order of the Eastern Star, and a past matron, and she was a member of the White Shrine. Mrs. Carr also was a member of the American Legion auxillary and the Rockford Woemn's club.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Rosman-Uehling-Kinzer central chapel with the Rev. Stanley B. Crossland officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 tonight at central chapel, where an Eastern Star service will be conducted at 7:00.
