Born at what was then known as Wildersburgh Township, in the area known as The Grants. It later was named Barre, after Vermont became a state in March, 1791.

Oldest son of Sabra Whitmore and Job Sr. Adams. One of three boys born to them: Job Jr. Adams, George Adams and Elias Sr. Adams.

Moved from his family homestead in Marlboro, Windham, Vermont in 1809 to Shipton, Three Rivers District, Quebec, Canada. About this time he had married, or married (1) at Shipton Township, a girl born about 1790, Sena Thomas.

Served in the War of 1812.

Family records name six children born to this first marriage: Emily Abigail, 3 September 1810; Caroline, 23 December 1813; Catherine Mehitable, 5 September 1815; Job III, 22 Sep. 1816; George, 12 March 1818; and Belinda, 4 September 1819, all born at Shipton Township (now Richmond, Quebec, Canada).

During this time, Job commanded the town militia and managed the St. Francis Hotel and Inn, also known as "Captain Job Adams' Tavern".

Sena died in 1824 and is buried beside him, according to his headstone transcription. Family lore also places his son, Job III at the same cemetery. (He died 11 July 1878 and is recorded in family records as being buried "on the 13th at Melbourne Township, Richmond, Quebec, Canada".)

Job Jr. married (2) on or about 29 December 1824, Sally Maria Badger [Mrs. Sally M. Otis]; family records name one daughter - Sarah Maria, 24 September 1825 and one son - Charles Henry, 5 March 1827 both born at Shipton Township from this marriage.

After the death of his second wife, Sally Maria Badger Otis, Job married for a third time, 12 March 1830, to a widow, Sarah "Sally" Holt (20 Oct 1779-23 Feb 1868) at Shipton, Quebec. After his death, she took over the St. Francis Inn until her own demise.
