Alice Mastic Weil, 88, of Largo, Fla., formerly of Ogdensburg, former owner and operator of the former Ogdensburg Business School, died Sunday in Largo.

A prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at McLellan Funeral Home followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Cathedral with the Rev. Joel McHenry officiating. Entombment will be in Foxwood Memorial Park.

Surviving are her husband, Joseph; a daughter, seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and a sister.

A daughter, Janet Mastic Johnston, died before her.

Born Aug. 27, 1906, at Lake Placid, a daughter of G. Edgar and Inez McDermott Billings, she graduated from Saranac Lake High School and Plattsburgh State Teachers College with a life certification in business teaching and received a master's degree from Syracuse University.

She married Arthur D. Mastic on July 3, 1927, in St. Bernard's Church, Saranac Lake. Mr. Mastic died Oct. 2, 1975.

She then married Joseph A. Weil on Sept. 18, 1979, in Orange, Calif.

Mrs. Weil purchased the Ogdensburg Business School in 1942 and operated it until 1964.

In 1963, she established the Massena School of Business and taught in the business department of Ogdensburg Free Academy, later teaching at Franklin Academy, Malone.

Mrs. Weil was a member of the New York State Teachers' Association and its legislative committee and was past president and vice president of the state Business Teachers' Association.

She was chairman of the Ogdensburg Civil Service Commission from 1961 to 1969, was active in the Women's City Democratic Club and was a state delegate to the Democratic Nominating Committee.

She also was past president of the Ogdensburg Zonta Club and was a member of Delta Pi Epsilon, the American Vocational Association and the National Educational Association.
