Indian Campaigns Medal of Honor Recipient. He entered the service in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He served as a Private in the US Army in Company B, 8th US Cavalry. He was awarded the CMOH for action in the vicinity of the Black Mountains, Arizona Territory during August 13 to October 31, 1868. His citation reads "Bravery in scouts and actions against Indians."
