Thomas Mann , 77, of 1659 County Route 28, died Sunday at Claxton-Hepburn Hospital, Ogdensburg. He had been in failing health for five years.

Mr. Mann was a heavy equipment operator and had worked on the St. Lawrence Seaway and for C.W. Green of Lisbon.

Born Jan. 18, 1925, in Endicott, son of Kenneth and Florence Crooks Mann , he graduated from high school in Wellsboro, Pa., and served as a machine gunner in the Air Force during World War II.

He married Jeanette VanOrder on July 26, 1944, in Wellsboro. The couple resided in Antrim, Pa., until moving to Ogdensburg and in 1956 they moved to Lisbon.

He was a member of the Local 545 Operator Engineers Union and American Legion Post 1342.

Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, two sons and a daughter-in-law, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A grandson died before him.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Foxwood Memorial Park chapel, Ogdensburg, with the Rev. Norman Bice officiating.
