Mrs. Nancy Basham Rites Held Tuesday

Mrs. Nancy Basham, 80, a resident of Coryell County for more than 60 years, died Sunday night in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Viola Culp, near Gatesville. Mrs. Basham had been making her home with Mrs. Culp since 1946.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Purmela Baptist Church, Rev. G. L. Derrick officiating. Burial was in the Smith Cemetery at Purmela, with Scott's in charge.

Mrs. Basham was the former Miss Nancy Roberts. She and Mr. Basham were married Jan. 13, 1897, and spent their married life in the Purmela community. Mrs. Basham was a longtime member of the Purmela Baptist church.

Mr. Basham died in 1935.

Surviving are one son, James C. Basham of Edgewater, Colo.; five daughters, Mrs. Culp, Mrs. Tabitha Moore of Gatesville, Mrs. Opal Adams of Mexia, Mrs. Velma Logan of Pearl and Miss May Basham of San Antonio; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Sylvia Williams of Brownwood.
