Eldest son of an influential Universalist minister, Stephen R. Smith, Lucian died at the age of 29 from a "burst blood vessel in a lung" *, the 10th member of the family to have died within the preceding 7 years. Survived by his wife, mother, sisters. Funeral by Rev. Ag. Laurie, Pastor of the Universalist church in Buffalo, who wrote the obit. (Christian Ambassador, Auburn NY, 20 Dec 1851)
