Evelyn Laura Brill was born March 24, 1915, at Hickman Mills, Missouri. She was the daughter of Frank J. and Nellie V. (Sampson) Scott. She moved to Pomona in 1953, where she resided eight years before returning to the Kansas City area. In 1978, she returned to Pomona in Franklin County, Kansas, where she made her home until her death Tuesday, August 28, 2001, at the age of eighty-six years.
She was a lifelong homemaker and nursing assistant at Lake Side Hospital. During the Korean Conflict, she was employed at the Lake City Arsenal.
She attended, and was a charter member of, Assembly of God Church in Pomona. She also attended Mt. Pleasant Church and Immanuel Baptist Church in Ottawa. Recently, she attended Solid Rock Family Church in Pomona.
An outgoing, loving person, Evelyn enjoyed being with people. She also enjoyed crocheting and made many lovely keepsakes.
On November 12, 1963, Evelyn was united in marriage with Gerald Sprague at Miami, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on January 18, 1978. On August 5, 1978, Evelyn was united in marriage with Harold "Gus" Brill at Harrisonville, Missouri. He preceded her in death on June 25, 1984.
She is also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mayme Coe; and brother, Leroy Scott.
She is survived by her cousin, Evelyn Scott of Pomona; and two nephews, Ernie Scott and Frank Scott.
Services will be held Friday, August 31, 2001, at 10:00 AM at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Rev. David Gordeuk will be officiating.
Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona, Kansas, on Friday, August 31, at 11:30 AM.
