*Tombstone Inscription: "To the Memory of Joseph Kearney Sen., Monegall, Kings Co., (Now Ofally), Ireland; Died 30 Oct 1861; aged 67 years.

Son of William Kearney b. 12 Nov 1762 and d. after 1812, and Margaret Reeves b. abt 1774 d. abt 1842. He had the following siblings: John; Sarah (buried at this cem.) who married Richard Hunt; Thomas Kearney (buried at this cem.); Francis who married Sarah (both buried at this cem.); William who married Alice Davis (both buried at this cem.); Margaret who married William W. Loveless; and Frances who married John Loveless.

He married Phebe Donavan (buried at this cem.); they had the following children: Margaret Kearney (1826-1904); Fulmoth/Falmouth Kearney (1829-1878 who married Charlotte Holloway (1834-abt 1877); William Kearney (1833-1855) married Alice Davis who was the granddaughter of the 1st Comptons buried in this cemetery: James and Alice (Dixon) Compton. Their daughter Jane was Alice Davis' mother. Elizabeth Compton Day also buried in the cemetery was another of James' daughter. A son George is most likely buried there but his tombstone is either lost or one of the unreadable ones; and Mary Anne Kearney (1837-1866).

Joseph Kearney was referred to in a lease dated 1 May 1800 (Minchin to Kearney) as the son of William Kearney. The lease was cited in a Landed Estates Court document of 1851. His date of birth has been estimated based on information on his gravestone. He died in America on 30 October 1861 aged 67 years.
