Margaret Salome Bongart, 95, formerly of Columbia, died Friday, January 9, 2009 at Conestoga View of natural causes. She was the wife of the late John Edward Bongart who died in 1954. She was born in Columbia, daughter of the late Fred and Elizabeth Welsh Smith. She was a practical nurse and also worked as an assembler for RCA Corp. A member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Pennsylvania Catholic Beneficial League.
She is survived by one daughter: Linda A. Krow, Lancaster. One grandson: Michael Edward husband of Heather Krow, Lancaster. Three great-granddaughters: Amanda, Emily and Lea Krow. One niece: Darlene wife of Michael McManus, Australia. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Fred and Carl Smith.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 409 Cherry Street, Columbia, PA 17512 on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Kenneth F. Lawrence as celebrant. Final commendation and farewell in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 P.M. Please omit flowers.
