Derensellear R. Booth served in Co. G, 3rd Arkansas Infantry during the Civil War. He fought with Hood's Texas Brigade and was at the Battle of Gettysburg where he saw action at Devil's Den. General Robert E. Lee considered Hood's Texas Brigade to be his finest fighting unit. Derensellear was wounded in his right arm at Chickamauga, Georgia, September 20, 1863 and retired to Invalid Corps, August 12, 1864.
