MRS. HETTIE BARTON
LANDRUM, Jan 15 - Mrs. Hettie Hughes Moon Brown Barton, 83, of Landrum, Rt. 2, died Saturday at 7:30 a.m. in a Travelers Rest hospital after an illness of one year.
She was a life-long resident of Greenville County, a member of Highland Baptist Church. She had been married three times, first to William Moon, who died 40 years ago. Her second husband, Henry Brown, died 30 years ago. Her third marriage was to Arthur M. Barton, who died 14 years ago.
Surviving are one son, W.C. Moon, Landrum; six step-sons, Earl, Fred and Dewitt Brown, Greer, Ed and Hoyt Brown, Greenville and J.W. Brown, New York City; one step-daughter, Mrs. Carl Swartz, Spartanburg; seven grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at Highland Baptist Church by the Rev. Ralph Abercrombie and the Rev. Harrison Chapman. Burial will be in the Church cemetery. Pallbearers will meet at 1:45 p.m., Will, Jim and Fred Moon, Bob Hammett, Leroy Pittman, Frank Barnett.
Deacons of the Church and Hamp Bates, G.W. Pittman and Haskell Turner will meet at the Church at the same hour to serve as honorary escort.
The body is at Wood Mortuary Greer. After 5 p.m. Sunday it will be at the home of a grandson, W.H. Moon, in the Highland Community.
