Helen Bartlett, age 87, of Joplin, passed away at 10 p.m. Wednesday, May 23,2007, after a long illness.

Helen was born Feb. 14, 1920, in Alix, Ark., to Joseph and Mary Nitowski and had lived in the Diamond area for 42 years,
moving to Joplin in 1990. She was a homemaker. She was also a 4H leader teaching cooking and sewing. She was known among friends for her sewing abilities and had done alterations out of her home for many years. She was a member of Diamond Grove Christian Church were she was a Sunday school teacher for the youth for more than 40 years.

She married Sherman Bartlett on Dec 16,1939,in Alix. He preceded her in death on July 15, 1995.

Helen is survived by two daughters, 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Marvin Bartlett and Sherman Bartlett,Jr; 5 brothers and 3 sisters.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mason-Woodard Chapel.Pallbearers will be Kevin Musser, Tom Neill, Joe Carpenter, Hyrl Lown, Randal Switzer and Don Adkin. Honorary pallbearers are Jeff Baker, Jim Boman,William Jones and Jacob Musser. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Mason-Woodard Chapel.

Helen's family would like to extend their thanks to the staff on C Hall at NHC, especially Nina and Angela, LPN's. Angela was a previous Sunday school student of Helen's.

Memorial contributions are requested to the Alzheimer's Association.
