Mary Ann Bissett, 89, of Barrackville, died Thursday (Dec. 4, 2008) at the Wishing Well Manor in Fairrmont. She was born Nov. 17, 1919, at Lowesville, a daughter of the late Howard and Zarilda "Rilla" Jane Arnett Hood.Mrs. Bissett was a homemaker who loved to quilt and paint. She was a Christian and a member of the Barrackville United Methodist Church and formerly a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church in Farmington. She served her Lord through the years as a Sunday school teacher, as president of United Methodist Women and at times assisted with teaching the adult class. She was also a Girl Scout Leader in Farmington for several years, and was a 1938 graduate of Barrackville High School. Mary Ann was also a sports fan who especially loved the West Virginia Mountaineers.She is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Nancy and Thomas R. Hite, Sr., Hampton, Va., Georgiana Prickett, Barrackville, Mary Lou and David A. Fox, Grafton and Alice and David Poling, Clarksburg; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews; three sisters-in-law, Frances Williams, Murella Cann and Dorothy Hamilton, all of Fairmont; and a brother-in-law, Arlie Bissett, Fairmont. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, George C. Bissett in 1977; five siblings, Virgil, Russell, Carl, Arthur and Naomi Hood; and a son-in-law, Edward L. Prickett.Friends may call at the Hutson Funeral Home in Farmington from 2-8 p.m. Sunday where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Scott Ingleton officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in the IOOF Cemetery at Farmington.
