HOPEWELL, Va. — Angela Spriggs Winner, 76, of Hopewell, formerly of Cumberland, died Thursday, July 22, 2004, at Henrico Doctors' Hospital, Richmond.
Born Aug. 14, 1927, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Nettie (McCoy) Spriggs.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Parker Winner II; and her daughter, Nancy W. Seymour.
Mrs. Winner was the retired office manager for doctors Booker, Schirmer and Blake. She was a member of Saint James Catholic Church. Survivors include one daughter, Susanne W. McDonald, Conroe, Texas; two sons, John P. "Jack" Winner, Virginia Beach, and Joseph P. Winner Sr., Hopewell; two sisters, Sister M. Blanche Spriggs, OSU, Louisville, Ky., and Kathryn Barnes, Beaverton, Ore.; one brother, Joseph Spriggs, Strasburg; 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and one niece, Xenia Rae Browning, Fort Ashby, W.Va.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Monday from 10 to 10:50 a.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Monday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Bernard Finerty, O.F.M., Cap., as celebrant.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to either Saint James Catholic Church, 510 West Poythress St., Hopewell, VA 23860, or the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, OH 44720.
