He and Lula owned a farm in the "Phillipi" Community near Piedmont. They were very self sufficient because Milt was an avid hunter. According to my grandmother, one time when she visited he killed a mountain lion. They never owned an automobile and would pick their family up from the train station in a horse drawn wagon when they came to visit.
Milt was also musically inclined. He played the Fiddle and the Banjo. He would frequently play for cake walks at the Phillipi school.
In later life, Milt and Mae lived in a house on AA Highway. When they first moved into this house, they had a gas stove. Milt nearly blew himself up trying to light it for the first time.
Milt died while my grandmother and grandfather were living in Toul, France.
