Son of William Edwards (born 1800 in PA; died in 1880 in Darlington, Beaver County, Pennsylvania) and Margretta Rehert (born 1820 in France; died after 1880 in Darlington, Beaver County, PA)

Garrison fought in the American Civil War, 10th Pennsylvania Reserves, Company K. He was
promoted from 1st Sergeant to 2d Lt., May 16, 1863; to 1st Lt., February 6, 1864; mustered out with Company, June 11, 1864.

He was married to Susan S (1845); a coal miner by occupation, he died of respiratory problems - probably 'black lung'.
