He was born in Scott County, Virginia (Nickelsville) and lived in Kingsport since 1946. Paul served in the US Army during WW II. He was a member of the Nickelsville United Methodist Church and attended the First Freewill Baptist Church of Morrison City. After working over 38 years, Paul retired from the Tennessee Eastman Corporation.
He was preceded in deah by his first wife, Ina Mae Nickels Addington; his parents, J.F. Addington and Pearl Wampler Addington; a sister, Arletta Broadwater and three brothers, Sylvain, T.J. and H.S Addington.
Survivors include his loving wife, Alma Nelson Addington of the home; three brothers, Harding Addington and wife Lena, Hebert Addington and Karl Addington all of Kingsport along with several neices and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Friday (September 19, 2008) at the First Freewill Baptist Church of Morrison City, 211 W. Carters Valley Road, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7 pm in the church with Rev. Larry Nelson and Rev. David Morgan, officiating.
Milliatary graveside servics will be held at 11 am on Saturday (September 20, 2008) at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City conducted by the American Legion Hammond Post #3, Gate City Post #265 and the Tennessee National Guard with Joe W. Byrd, Chaplain. Pallbeareres will be Steve Addington, Randy Nickels, David Head, Wesley Hicks, Tommy McCaracken and Roy Davis.
