Arlie was grandpa, my daddy's dad. He was a wonderful man, kind of quite, but loved his kids and grandkids. He was also very protective of his "children" ... all of them!
Grandpa was also a cowboy, he went on many roundups in his days. He would go to Arizona and New Mexico, catch a herd of wild Mustangs and have every one of them broke to ride by the time he got back to Texas.
When Arlie was a baby, his parents, Jacob "Jake" Mayfield New and Abbie Eviline Keith/New moved their family from Wayne county Kentucky to Truscott, Knox Co. Texas. Jake and Abbie lived in Truscott the rest of their lives and nearly everyone of their children are buried there with the exception of Arlie and Marcus. Arlie is buried with his wife and some of their children in Carter Oklahoma and Marcus and his wife are buried in Belen, NM.
