Carl H. Griffith, 24, Corvallis, was killed early Saturday morning in an accident on the VanBuren Street Bridge.

The son of Harley W. and Dorthy Boege Griffith, he was born June 19, 1947, at Council Bluffs, Iowa. At the age of 8 he moved with his parents to Oregon and the family settled in the Philomath area. The family later moved to Corvallis where Carl graduated from Corvallis High School in 1965. He then entered the U.S. Navy and served four years. Following his discharge he returned to Corvallis where he had since made his home.

He married Cathy Howard in July 1967 at Alameda California. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Philomath.

Besides his parents he is survived by two brothers, Jimmy of Corvallis and Larry at home; a sister LaRee, at home; his grandmother, Mrs. Blanche Griffith of Corvallis, and numerous other relatives.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of the McHenry Funeral Home Wednesday at 11am with the Rev. Walter C. Hines officiating. Burial will be in the Oaklawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family suggests that friends make memorial contributions to the Benton County Association for Retarded Children.
