Mr. Corel died Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Nov. 6, 1927, in Lawrence, the son of Charles W. and Jettie P. Meadows Corel. He attended Lawrence schools.
Mr. Corel served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1945 to 1953 and attained the rank of Sergeant. He received a Good Conduct Medal, Honorable Service Lapel Button, Korean Service Medal and World War II Victory Medal.
He worked for Sam's Produce in Lawrence for 18 years. He later worked for Hallmark Cards in Lawrence, where he worked as a back-door guard and retired in December 1992 after 13 years of service. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 852 in Lawrence.
He married Velma Aleene Roach on Nov. 23, 1954, in Lawrence. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include a daughter, Glennett A. Corel, of the home; a son, Glenn Ivan Corel, Lawrence; and four grandchildren.
