William C. Thach

William C. Thach, a pioneer member of the United Mine Workers of America, died recently at his home in Midland, Ark. He was the father of 16 children, 13 of whom are still living. There were 10 sons and six daughters.

Mr. Thach was a member of the old Knights of Labor before the existence of the U.M.W. of A. He was a member of the Mine Workers until his death, although he had not worked in the mines for several years. During his lifetime he held many offices in the Union, both local and district; in his earlier years he was an organizer for the United Mine Workers of America, and was widely known over the southwest, Kentucky and Tennessee.
